What up, D! Great question by the way, we are on the same wavelengths and I have been waiting to pass this advice along.
So, a while ago, I was trying to find really great songs to add to my "Sexy Time" playlist (Does anybody else have one?!!). I was completely unsuccessful until I went to a website called Pandora at www.pandora.com. It is the best website. It picks songs to play based on your choice of song, artist, or genre. So, say you type in "I Want You" by Madonna (Great song by the way!), then it will randomly play songs that are similar to that, so it will probably play Portishead (which you should definitely look up, amazing). I have discovered so many great songs and artists with this website. Check pandora out, I think you will like it. And let me know if you find anything good!

    D--

"Caravan" (from the soundtrack of the film "Chocolat"). It's a Duke Ellington song, and that's Johnny Depp actually playing it (he was a musician before he was an actor). Sexy song + Johnny Depp =mmmm

my alltime favorite song ever made is "8:16am" by 311
it's a jazzy romantic funky hip hop reggae song.

here are some other great ones.
"your ex lover is dead" by stars
"you i lie to you baby" by charles and eddie

and you should check out the band "the album leaf" they don't have much lyrics...but the music is quite romantic.

Fields of Gold and Songbird by Eva Cassidy are super romantic and always slay me.

But you need waaaaay more soul on your list, D. You'll always win with:

The "holy trinity" by Rev. Al Green: Tired of Bein' Alone, I'm Still in Love with You, and Let's Stay Together

And the three most romantic R&B hits EVER: If You Don't Know Me By Now by Harold Melvin and the Blue Notes, Oh Girl by the Chi-Lites, and Shining Star by The Manhattans.

Be careful of those last three if you don't want to get laid. They're sure-fire panty droppers!

I say, mix a little of the old and the new. "I've Got My Love to Keep Me Warm," by Dean Martin and many other artists is perfect for this time of the year, or if you want to get kooky, check out Dean Martin's, "Ain't Love a Kick in the Head." I always vowed that if I marry, this would have to be on the playlist. I really dig the 80s too for sappy love ballads. Depeche Mode's "It Doesn't Matter" and of course, "Somebody" are bloody melodramatic but hurt so good. You can never go wrong with Olivia Newton-John. An oldie but goody from her country days, "I Honestly Love You." Hope that gives you a little food for thought!
