In emergencies, the Seals just shovel in dry instant coffee and swallow. Black with Coffeemate - a terrible habit. French press, coffee maker or instant espresso. My tummy isn't great with coffee, so lots of milk, regular milk, as soy is dangerous for anyone who has had ER+ breast cancer.
When I have a latte, I lurve some vanilla sugar and cocoa powder on it. Delish. I don't see the French Press as an extra gadget as electric kettle is how I heat water. So just heat up, fill up French Press and go. reply to Claire ![]() At home, either French Press, Coffee Maker or Instant.
Instant: Take a tiny bit of cream, two sugar in the raw packets and 2 T coffee, and 'stir' it/beat it/mix it with a spoon for about 15 minutes until the sugar disolves and gets all frothy. Pour in steaming hot water and serve. I normally mix dunkin donuts in a coffee maker: decaf and regular with a little french vanilla. And, no I do not expect to die from the coffee and tea I drink, even though I was diagnosed with breast cancer a little over a year ago. So, recently we went to a coffee shop that changed our whole view on coffee. I grew up with the owner and always heard his sisters and mom brag. They'd post all of these great reviews on FB. But come on, they're his mom / sisters, right? Gilt even sold his coffee a few months ago. When we finally went, we had an amazing experience. He roasts his own beans. There's no condiment bar. NO sugar or cream. You can get coffee with milk in only two forms: cappuccino or macchiato. The rest is all black. A/y, I learned that coffee should not be bitter. It actually has hints of flavors (like wine). The one I had was organic from Kenya. It had hints of grapefruit. Each gulp was slightly different. Now I know good coffee should not be accessorized. To brew - we also learned - depends on the bean. Here's how we brew: Turkish Moka pot or macchinetta For none espressso - we use the Costa Rican or Latin method - with a "sock". It's not really a sock but rather a flannel coffee filter. One of C's gifts for Christmas is a whole coffee brewing equipment set - Hario V60 Buono Kettle (slow drip), Hario Ceramic Coffee Dripper with filters and a manual grinder (b/c the heat of the an electric grinder changes the bean's taste). And I'm getting him a copy of a brewing manual that is yet to go to publication. When I'm home, however, it's Mr. Coffee all the way with the classic brew of Dunkin' Donuts with a pinch (a PINCH) of *Real* Stevia at the bottom of the pot. Use whichever brew you enjoy best but Splenda is just sugar that has been bleached and aspartame (found in artificial sweeteners) in your body turns into the same crap morticians pump into corpses. A pinch of stevia is all it takes in a 12 cup pot and it's sweet like a teaspoon of real sugar without shifting a pancreas into overdrive. Some creme or milk is your choice but I take mine mostly black.

I prefer darker coffees, at least a medium blend, if not a dark roast. I have been really playing around with some of the newer "flavoured" coffees. Those are fun right? So, I am IN LOVE with Dunkin Donuts Blueberry Muffin flavor coffee!!! I always add a ton of sugar, and two to three creamer "pods". I usually buy the pods in bulk, but often I will snatch a handful of fun flavored pods from any gas station I stop in. LOL! I mean, hey!, they are free right?! LOL! As for making it, I have my special "coffee spot" that takes up half of the counter. I use a very basic Mr. Coffee. Beside the coffee maker I keep a bulk sized Folgers Medium Roast, a specialty coffee (Starbucks Caramel at the moment), a pound of sugar in a covered dish, and my filters stacked on top of that. I also have a box with a hinged lid that I stash all my creamer pods in. I usually only make 4 to 6 cups at a time, which equals about two cups of joe for me. I like coffee at night, when I am relaxing. It doesn't speed me up like most folks. It actually makes me sleepy. Something about the warmth and all that. I wish I had someone to share a cup with, but alas, my better half despises coffee! Sometimes when my son comes to visit I allow him a small cup (he's only 13), but I think he only drinks the coffee to taste the creamers!!!
